Rehoboth Beach & Sussex County Dispensaries

Seven dispensaries serve Delaware's beach region — the largest concentration in the state, fueled by summer tourism and year-round coastal living. Two are medical-only due to local opt-outs.

Last verified: March 2026

Sussex County has seven of Delaware's 15 dispensaries — nearly half the state total — spread across the beach towns, inland communities, and agricultural areas that define southern Delaware. The concentration makes sense: Sussex County swells with visitors every summer, particularly in Rehoboth Beach, Lewes, Dewey Beach, and Bethany Beach, and those visitors now include cannabis tourism alongside the traditional beach-weekend crowd from D.C., Baltimore, and Philadelphia.

However, two Sussex County municipalities — Milford and Seaford — have opted out of recreational sales. Fresh Cannabis locations in those towns remain medical-only.

Columbia Care (The Cannabist Company) — Rehoboth Beach

Address 36725 Bayside Outlet Dr, Suite 760, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971
Hours Mon–Sat 10 AM–6 PM (hours may vary; summer hours may be extended)
Website columbia.care/stores/delaware
Sales Recreational + Medical

Located at the Bayside Outlet Drive shopping area near the Tanger Outlets, Columbia Care's Rehoboth Beach location is the most tourist-accessible dispensary in the beach region. It is situated on Route 1 just minutes from the Rehoboth Beach boardwalk and Dewey Beach, making it a natural stop for summer visitors. As part of The Cannabist Company, the store carries a wide product selection from flower to edibles to vape cartridges.

During peak summer months (June through August), this is likely the busiest dispensary in Delaware. Online pre-ordering is strongly recommended to skip wait times, especially on weekends and holidays.

Summer Crowds

Rehoboth Beach-area dispensaries are busiest on summer weekends and holiday weekdays. Pre-order online before you arrive, or visit mid-week for shorter wait times. Alternatively, The Farm in Frankford or Thrive in Lewes may have shorter lines.

Thrive Dispensary — Lewes

Address 12000 Old Vine Blvd, Unit 102, Lewes, DE 19958

Sales Recreational + Medical

Thrive's Lewes location serves the northern beach area, including Lewes, Rehoboth Beach, and Cape Henlopen. Owned by MariMed and formerly operating as First State Compassion, Thrive has deep roots in Delaware's cannabis program — their Wilmington location was the state's first dispensary in 2015. The Lewes store provides an alternative to Columbia Care's Rehoboth location, particularly useful during busy summer weekends when the outlet-area store can see long lines.

Lewes is also the Cape May-Lewes Ferry terminal town. Visitors arriving from New Jersey via the ferry will find Thrive conveniently located, though remember: transporting cannabis across state lines (including by ferry) is a federal crime.

The Farm — Frankford

Address 34164 Dupont Blvd, Frankford, DE 19945

Sales Recreational + Medical
Opened August 1, 2025

The Farm's newest location opened August 1, 2025, on Route 113 (Dupont Blvd) in Frankford — strategically positioned between the Bethany Beach / Fenwick Island beach communities and the inland towns of Sussex County. As a family-owned, seed-to-shelf operation, The Farm grows, processes, and sells everything in-house. This is a good alternative when beach-area dispensaries in Rehoboth and Lewes are packed during peak season.

Best Buds (CannTech) — Georgetown

Address 23 Georgetown Plaza, Georgetown, DE 19947
Hours Check website for current hours
Website bestbuds.com
Sales Recreational + Medical
Ownership Minority-owned, veteran-owned, UFCW union shop

Best Buds' Georgetown location serves the central Sussex County area, including the county seat and surrounding agricultural communities. As with their Dover location, this is a minority and veteran-owned, UFCW union shop. Georgetown is about 20 minutes inland from Rehoboth Beach, offering an alternative to the busier coastal dispensaries.

Fresh Cannabis — Milford Medical Only

Address 635 N. Dupont Blvd, Milford, DE 19963
Website freshcannabis.co
Sales Medical Only — Milford has opted out of recreational sales

Fresh Cannabis — Seaford Medical Only

Address 22982 Sussex Hwy, Seaford, DE 19973
Website freshcannabis.co
Sales Medical Only — Seaford has opted out of recreational sales

Fresh Cannabis operates two locations in Sussex County that serve medical patients only. Both Milford and Seaford exercised their right under Delaware law to opt out of recreational cannabis sales. If you are a recreational customer, the nearest alternative to Milford is Best Buds in Georgetown (about 20 minutes south) or The Farm in Felton (about 20 minutes north). For Seaford, Best Buds Georgetown and The Farm Frankford are within 20–25 minutes.

Local Opt-Out Warning

Milford and Seaford have banned recreational cannabis sales. Fresh Cannabis locations in these towns serve medical patients only. Do not travel to these locations expecting to buy recreational cannabis — you will be turned away without a valid Delaware medical card.

Beach Town Consumption Rules

Purchasing cannabis near the beach is easy. Consuming it is more regulated:

  • Beaches and boardwalks: Public consumption is prohibited. This includes smoking, vaping, and eating edibles on the Rehoboth Beach boardwalk, Dewey Beach, Bethany Beach, or any public beach.
  • Hotels and rentals: Most hotels prohibit cannabis use on their property. Vacation rental policies vary — check with your host. Smoke-free properties will generally not permit cannabis smoking even if they allow cannabis generally.
  • Restaurants and bars: Cannabis consumption is not permitted in any restaurant, bar, or food-service establishment.
  • Private residences: Cannabis consumption is legal in a private residence. This is the safest and most practical option for beach visitors.
